It's seven years since the civil war ended but Oxfam's development and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) expertise is still desperately needed. Working with others to deliver WASH strategy, you'll help the people of Liberia to get back on their feet and move forward.
The role
The WASH consortium is a coalition of five international NGOs in Liberia. Heading up this small but technically strong team, you'll plan, design and implement consortium activities, integrating projects and consulting with the Oxfam County Director to make sure everyone's pulling in the same direction. With combined efforts at the heart of our success and strong relationships the foundation of our programmes, it'll be up to you to liaise and coordinate with partner organisations to produce WASH programmes that'll make a difference - increasing access to water and sanitation facilities and promoting hygiene. It's a wide-ranging role, and as well as operating on a strategic level, you'll play a part in day-to-day practicalities like producing reports, planning consortium meetings and making sure projects are in line with donor specifications.
What we're looking for
Educated to degree level and with substantial experience of development work in a post conflict country, you'll be familiar with the voluntary sector. A real understanding of the consortium and the work we do in alignment with WASH is vital; as is your ability to coordinate the activities of various stakeholders while remaining highly organised. And because you'll be dealing with a wide range of donors, consortium members and government officials, your networking and people management skills must be second to none. But just as important is your ability to make others make things happen. If you can bring all this, you could soon be enjoying a varied role that offers a real chance to influence government strategy and make an impact at the heart of a highly respected network. .
About Oxfam
A simple, inescapable truth underlines everything we do at Oxfam. There's enough wealth in this world to go around. It's not unfortunate that people live in poverty. It's unjustifiable. It's not just their problem. It's ours too. And with the right support, we can beat poverty and injustice. Thousands of people already commit their time and talents to our campaigning, humanitarian and long-term development projects. Now we're looking for yours.
