Cluster Finance Manager – Maersk Line - Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) - Maersk Line, Abidjan, Ivory Coast
After a short period of instability, following the Presidential Elections in November 2010, Cote d’Ivoire is now out of the political turbulences and is ready to focus on its future and the economic growth.
The world’s largest cocoa producer and processor is also a very important exporter of fruits (bananas, mango, pineapple), fish (tuna), cotton, cashew nuts, coffee and timber.
Several oil and gas discoveries are also representing a strong base for the future growth, not to mention the existing infrastructure, as well as the level of industrialization, once of the most important in West Africa, which also attracted multinationals such as Nestle and Unilever, which both have a very strong presence in Cote d’Ivoire.
The new government has strong support from EU, UN, World Bank, IMF as well as African Union and the expectations are very positive, indicating that the country will start growing again towards resuming its position as the economic leader and power in the sub-region, which will also lead to a number of specific opportunities for Maersk Line.
The Maersk Line organisation comprises 82 staff in Cote d’Ivoire, working in two offices, San Pedro and Abidjan. Maersk Line alone has a market share of 23% of imports and 19% of exports, and is the 2nd largest shipping line in the market.
